Michael C. Donaldson earned his law degree at the University of California at Berkeley after a three-year stint in the United States Marine Corps. He has been an entertainment lawyer for more than thirty years. He is General Counsel to the Independent Feature Project/West (IFP/W) and the International Documentary Association (IDA). Mr. Donaldson wrote Negotiating for Dummies, which has sold over 100,000 copies in English and has been translated into six languages. He also wrote Do it Yourself! Trademarks and Copyrights and Clearance & Copyright: Everything the Filmmaker Needs to Know. He is a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association (past Co-Chairman, Entertainment Section), California State Bar Association, American Bar Association and Los Angeles Copyright Society. A former board member of the California Theater Council, Mr. Donaldson has been legal counsel to Twilight Los Angeles, nominated for a Tony Award, and the Los Angeles stage premiere of Miss Saigon.
