A perfect time for a bluegrass musical...

The popularity of bluegrass music has been growing tremendously over the last few years. This once obscure musical genre was brought into the mainstream with the success of the soundtrack to the movie O Brother Where Art Thou?. The recording, which garnered an unexpected five awards at the 2002 Grammys, has sold millions of copies and has put several bluegrass artists on the playlists of country music stations that once shunned the genre. A new crop of young artists such as Alison Krauss and Nickel Creek have been successful in melding "pop" styles and sensibilities into bluegrass. Well-established recording artists such as Ricky Skaggs and Dolly Parton have also returned to their roots in bluegrass to critical and commercial acclaim.
